Canberra Melamine Particleboard
Core Substrate: Particleboard
The base layer of the board is made from wood waste, including wood chips, wood shavings, and sawmill scraps. These raw materials first undergo a drying process to control moisture content, then are evenly mixed with synthetic adhesives (typically urea-formaldehyde resin, with low-formaldehyde adhesive options available to meet environmental requirements). Finally, the mixture is pressed into boards under high temperature (approximately 150–200°C) and high pressure, forming a substrate with high density and hardness. While the particleboard substrate is low-cost, it has a rough surface and moderate strength, and thus relies on decorative overlays to enhance its usability.
Surface Layer: Melamine Resin Film
Both the front and back sides of the particleboard are covered with a thin layer of melamine resin film—a type of thermosetting plastic film. Through a heat-pressing process (usually at a temperature of 130–180°C with pressure applied), the film bonds tightly to the particleboard surface. This melamine surface layer offers an extremely wide range of design options, including wood grain, solid colors, fabric textures, and even stone-like patterns, while also providing key protective properties.

Key Advantages
1 Cost-Effectiveness
Compared to solid wood boards or plywood, melamine particleboard uses low-cost raw materials and has a simplified production process, resulting in a significantly lower price. This feature makes it an ideal choice for furniture-making projects with limited budgets.
2.Versatile Aesthetics
It comes in thousands of decorative patterns and colors, capable of simulating the texture of high-end materials such as oak, walnut (for wood), or marble, concrete (for non-wood textures). This flexibility allows it to fit various interior styles, from minimalist and Scandinavian to modern and industrial.
3.Durability & Easy Maintenance
The melamine surface layer is scratch-resistant, heat-resistant (able to withstand short-term contact with warm items like mugs), and stain-resistant. In daily use, stains such as coffee spills or oil marks can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth, requiring minimal maintenance.
4.Environmental Friendliness
Attention should be paid to the formaldehyde emission level of the board—adhesives in the particleboard substrate may release formaldehyde. It is recommended to choose products that meet international standards, such as E1 grade (formaldehyde emission ≤ 0.124 mg/m³, safe for indoor use) or E0 grade (even lower formaldehyde emission), to ensure indoor air quality.
