Canberra Soft-Close Three-Section Hidden Drawer Slides
Structure
Outer Rail: This rail is typically mounted inside the cabinet carcass. It is designed to be flush - mounted, which allows for the hidden installation effect. The outer rail serves as the foundation for the entire slide system and provides a stable base for the middle and inner rails to operate.
Middle Rail: Acting as the core of the sliding mechanism, the middle rail features built - in ball grooves. High - precision steel balls (usually 3 - 5mm in diameter) are arranged in these grooves. These balls facilitate smooth rolling contact between the middle rail and both the outer and inner rails, significantly reducing friction. In addition to the ball - bearing system, the middle rail also plays a role in distributing the load evenly during the extension and retraction of the drawer.
Inner Rail: Attached to the side of the drawer, the inner rail is designed to match the ball - bearing structure of the middle rail. It has a corresponding groove system where the steel balls roll, ensuring seamless movement. The inner rail is engineered to provide a strong connection to the drawer, capable of withstanding the weight of the drawer and its contents.
Latch Mechanism: This is an added security feature. The latch can be either a manual or an automatic type. Manual latches usually consist of a metal pin or bolt that engages with a corresponding hole or slot on the cabinet side when the drawer is fully closed. Automatic latches, on the other hand, may use magnetic or mechanical sensors to lock the drawer in place once it reaches the closed position. This feature is particularly useful for preventing drawers from accidentally opening, especially in situations where the furniture may be jostled or in areas where child - proofing is necessary.
Soft - Close Damper: Similar to other soft - close slides, a hydraulic or pneumatic damper is integrated into the system. When the drawer is pushed to within 3 - 5cm of the closed position, the damper activates. It gradually decelerates the drawer's movement, resulting in a slow and gentle closing action. This not only reduces noise but also protects the furniture from damage caused by sudden impacts.
